Stanningley Primary School

School Governors

Governor Profiles

Louise Travis-Jones   Co - Chair of Governors
Stanningley Primary School, its pupils, staff and families hold a very special place in my heart and I am incredibly proud to be a part of it. The huge emphasis placed on well-being means our children are nurtured and encouraged thereby having a secure base for their learning.
As governors we support and uphold the schools' values and ethos. We work closely with the Headteacher to make decisions that affect the well-being and education of the children as well as shape the schools future focus and development.
If you would like to get in touch for any reason at all please contact the school office or email [email protected].
I have been a governor at Stanningley Primary school since October 2013. I have been Chair of Governors for 5 years and this year have taken on the role of Co-Chair with Chris Winstanley. I have two daughters, who are both now in high school.

Aidan Harington
My name is Aidan Harington and I am proud to be the Year 5 teacher at Stanningley Primary School. I have ten years of teaching experience at this school to draw on in my role as part of the Teaching and Learning sub committee. I am also the Science Lead at the school - a subject I thoroughly enjoy - and am privilliged to work alongside a team of equally enthusiastic staff in delivering such an important area of the curriculum.
Before becoming a teacher, I was the Snowschool Manager at Snozone, Castleford, managing a team of around 40 snowsports instructors. My love of teaching children to ski and snowboard led to me becoming a primary school teacher at this wonderful, nurturing school. I have been a Staff Governor for 4 years and enjoy being a more integral part of the wider school community.
Claire Francis

Hi, my name is Claire.  I have had 2 children that attended Stanningley and they are now at secondary school. For the last 19 years I’ve been working in a job I love for the NHS as Senior Newborn Hearing Screener. Having to adhere to NHS protocols and following specific guidelines allows me to work in a robust service. I am aware of the importance of confidentiality, understand the need to be inclusive whilst still providing a service which is equal and accessible to everyone who needs it.

One morning a week I spend time in school as a volunteer reader. By being part of the governing body, I want to support the school and become part of the team that supports the head teacher, staff and of course all our children.

Chris Winstanley Co - Chair of Governors

I am excited to be appointed Co-Chair of the governing body from November 2023, having been a Governor at Stanningley Primary School for the last two years.

After a successful career as a senior director in both retail and nursery school sectors, I moved to Portugal 15 years ago where I developed a business selling Outdoor Living products to retail and wholesale clients.

I handed over the reins of the day to day running of the company to my team in late 2020 and moved back in semi-retirement with my wife Melanie to the Leeds area to be near two of our children and their families.  Both are involved in education locally.

I worked in the Early Years sector in the early 2000s, growing and running one of the largest nursery chains in the country. I have an interest in early years education and hope to combine this with my business and management skills to assist the Senior Leadership team in developing Stanningley Primary School.

Michelle Bartram

My name is Michelle Bartram and I have been a Parent Governor at Stanningley Primary School for 3 years. Both my daughter's currently attend the school therefore, the school and its values are very close to my heart. I am passionate about the education that our children receive and enjoy the opportunity to support the school that being a part of the Governors Board brings. I have worked in Financial Services for 21 years and am pleased to be able to utilise my business skills and knowledge within the Resources Sub-Committee.

Sarah Newby

I come from a media, marketing and HE background and have been a parent governor for around 3 years. With a daughter in year 3 and one now in year 7 it’s great to be able to support the SLT, teaching staff and governing body to ensure our children have the very best teaching and learning experience and most positive outcome during their time at Stanningley.
Alex Wibrew

Alex is the CEO of a music tech company, based in leeds. Previously, he taught music at Stanningley and has many years experience working for the Music service within the local authority. He is passionate about governance and    loves the family focused ethos of Stanningley Primary School.
