This time we have decided to concentrate on the story of what the lady bird heard and zoo animals.
As you are probably aware most of the zoo's are struggling to raise funds in order to take care of the animals, so to help we thought we would learn about some of the animals they may see if you were to visit a zoo.
We are really aiming for your children to complete independent writing for some of the activities, we also know some children will need some adult support for this, to which we thank you for helping in these unusual circumstances.
A few tips:-
Ask your child what are the three non-negotiables are when writing a sentence.
(capital letter, finger spaces and full stops)
Ask them to say the sentence out loud and count the words on your fingers to show the children how many words they need to write.
Please find the story of the What the ladybird heard on holiday.
Stretchy sentences- Your children needs to write about the pictures they see using the words in the box at the top of each page. Write about your favourite animal- The children can use their own knowledge of the animals to write about their favourite animal. Can you help them find anything out on the zoo websites? My trip to the zoo If you have a trip to the zoo planned for over the holidays then please save this activity for when you have been, if not maybe you could have a look at these virtual videos from Chester zoo to help your child to do this work. https://www.chesterzoo.org/virtual-zoo-2/ We really look forward to seeing photos of your visits if you manage to get to a zoo.
Count and colour- something a little fun for the children, colour in the number of animals in the box Animals in the box, cut out the animals and how many can you fit in the box? animals can not overlap. Creative animal cones, it making a 3D cone and the children can use these as puppets to create a story around the zoo? Remember to put your activities on Tapestry we are still enjoying seeing them all.
