Stanningley Primary School Curriculum Statement

INTENT

At Stanningley Primary School we offer a curriculum which is broad, balanced, rich and deep, and which builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills of all our children, whatever their starting points; it is underpinned by the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum, as well as shared pedagogical approaches across the whole school. Our curriculum incorporates additional enhanced experiences and opportunities which best meet the learning and developmental needs of the pupils in our school.

We believe that a wide variety of rich experiences will help our children in developing a strong sense of the world around them, as well as supporting them in developing as confident, responsible citizens.

The aim of our curriculum is for pupils to have the requisite skills, which are built on, revisited and embedded to enable them to be successful, independent and motivated learners in readiness for their next stage of education. We will provide a coherent, structured curriculum that leads to sustained mastery for all and a greater depth of understanding for those who are capable.

At Stanningley it is very important to us that the curriculum considers the development of the whole child and does not only concentrate on academic success.
