Y3/4 FOOTBALL at LWA (DEVELOP) - AUTUMN 2 - 28/11/2023

A team of 7 boys competed in the football competition at Leeds West Academy. The boys played extremely well. They drew 3 games and won 1. Congratulations to ValleyView Team A, who were the competition winners.

LSWP SEND Ten Pin Bowling (Inspire & Engage) - AUTUMN 2 - 22/11/2023

Today, a team of 6 boys attended the Leeds Well School Partnership SEND Ten-Pin Event 2023. This was an INSPIRE AND ENGAGE event that had an emphasis on participation. The aim was to inspire participants to continue their physical activity journey. The emphasis of the event is on fun and enjoyment rather than competition. There was space for up to 24 teams at the event and each team was made up of a maximum of 6 participants. Thank you to PANATHLON for providing medals and certificates.

Y5/6 FOOTBALL at LWA (Compete) - AUTUMN 2 - 14/11/2023

A team of 7 boys competed in the football competition at Leeds West Academy. Due to an injury earlier that day, Stanningley played without having a substitute on the side line. The team showed excellent skill and sportsmanship and walked away joint third. Congratulations to Raynville A who were the competition winners.

Y2 MULTI SKILLS at LWA (Inspire & Engage) - AUTUMN 2 - 7/11/2023

Tonight, we attended a Y2 Multi Skills event at Leeds West Academy. The children were very excited to use the facilities at our local secondary school. Eight children from Year 2 were given the opportunity to try different activities by completing a carousel that was supported by young leaders. The children from Stanningley Primary School were amazing and tried out running, aiming, skipping, balancing, dribbling and throwing! Well done Year 2.

Y2 MULTI SKILLS at LWA (Inspire & Engage) - SPEED BOUNCE
Y5/6 ULTIMATE FRISBEE at LWA (Develop) - AUTUMN 1 - 24/10/2023

A team of Y5 pupils were excited to attend the Year 5 and 6 Mixed Ultimate Frisbee develop event. Ultimate is a non contact, self refereed team sport played with a flying disc frisbee. Two teams of seven players compete on a playing field. At each end of the playing field there is an end zone. Each team defends one end zone. They score a goal if one of their players catches the disc in the opposite end zone. Due to the rain we needed to move our event indoors. It was very busy but Team Stanningley enjoyed their first experience of Ultimate.

Y5/6 MIXED NETBALL at LWA (Compete) - AUTUMN 1 - 17/10/2023

Tonight, we enjoyed attending the Year 5 and 6 Mixed Netball competition at Leeds West Academy. Our Team, showed excellent resilience and coped with unexpected changes to the rules and organisation. Congratulations to Team Stanningley who ran out as winners of the competition.

Y5/6 TAG RUGBY at LWA (Compete) - AUTUMN 1 - 10/10/2023

The School Games is a programme which aims to keep competitive sport at the heart of schools and provide young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best. Tonight we took a team of 8 pupils to compete in the TAG RUGBY event. Our team was very excited to be playing on the new 2G Astro at Leeds West Academy. The team not only successfully remained undefeated but also they displayed outstanding sportsmanship. TEAM STANNINGLEY YOU played fair. YOU gave your all. YOU were honest and respectful. Congratulations on YOUR win.

LSWP SEND Athletics Event (Inspire & Engage) - AUTUMN 1 - 10/10/2023

It was with great pleasure that we attended the Leeds Well School Partnership SEND Inspire and Engage Athletics Event at Pudsey Leisure Centre. The INSPIRE and ENGAGE events will have an emphasis on participation. The aim is to inspire participants to continue their physical activity journey. This was a fun and non competitive event aimed at giving our children the opportunity to develop their fundamental skills through athletics. Children were able to carousel as a school group around a range of different activity stations which challenged their movement balance throwing and jumping skills.

The staff at Stanningley Primary School were very proud to take a team of  34 pupils to the KS2 Fun Run at Leeds West Academy.  All of the children completed the course and we were very proud of all of the placings.

LWSP 5/6 DODGEBALL at Crawshaw (Compete) - AUTUMN 1 - 28/09/2023

A team of 6 boys attended the West Leeds Well School Partnership Y5/6 Dodgeball Competition at Crawshaw Academy. This was a a compete event. These events will have an emphasis on competition. The aim of these events is to provide a competitive opportunity for children that need to develop their skills. The team at Stanningley won their group and progressed to what the competition named the champions league.

Y5/6 DODGEBALL at LWA (Compete) - AUTUMN 1 - 26/09/2023

This was the first of two Dodgeball competitions that Y5/6 will be attending this week. Both nights are compete events. It was decided that we would take a team of Y5 pupils to the event at LWA and then a Y6 team will compete at the LWSP event at Crawshaw. Our Y5 team, played against 5 other teams from our local cluster of schools and showed excellent sportsmanship. Mr Harington commented about the honesty of the team.

Y3/4 DODGEBALL (Develop) - AUTUMN 1 - 19/09/2023

Tonight, we attended our first cluster sports event of the new academic year. A team of 6, Y4 pupils, represented Stanningley in the Y3/4 Mixed Dodgeball event at LWA. They played against 5 other teams from our local cluster of schools. At the end of the event, the children were excited to hear that they had placed second. Congratulations to Raynville who were the competition winners.

RESULTS from the SPORTS DAY 2023 (INTRA-SCHOOL COMPETITION) - SUMMER 2 - 30/06/23

The results of the Sports Day Day Competition 2023 were announced in our Celebration Assembly. At Stanningley Primary School we are proud that our children consistently show highly positivernattitudes and they were all proud and respectful when the winning team was announced. In third place with a total of 604 points was Green Team. In second place with a total of 653 points was Blue Team. And ..... the winners of Sports Day 2023 with a total of 684 points were ...... THE WHITE TEAM. Congratulations to our White team who were all presented with a gold medal. rn

SPORTS DAY 2023 (INTRA-SCHOOL COMPETITION) - SUMMER 2 - 28/06/23

At Stanningley Primary School, we are very proud of our annual Sports Day. Children have the chance to compete in this whole school team event and experience competition in a positive way. The event is carefully planned and the children compete in groups of similar abilities. All children have the opportunity to compete in a number of traditional Sports Day races. Our annual Sports Day, that takes place on Stanningley Park, is supported by friends and family. Today, both of our Key Stage events were well attended with many adults joining in a final race. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR SUPPORTING OUR STANNINGLEY SPORTS DAY.

BRAMLEY OLYMPICS - SUMMER 2 - 27/06/23

Congratulations Team Stanningley, for coming third at the Bramley Olympics today, Tuesday 27th June. We were so proud when you all collected your Bronze medals. Thank you to Councillor Kevin Ritchie for helping to present them. The Bramley Olympics is an outdoor track and field event and involved our children participating in athletics events against our cluster schools. Congratulations to ValleyView who were the overall winners and to Bramley St. Peters who came second.

Y2 RAINBOW CLUB EVENT - SUMMER 2 - 13/06/2023
LWSP Y5/6 OPEN CRICKET at MORLEY CC - SUMMER 2 - 12/06/2023

Today, we were very proud to take a team of 8 children to compete in the Leeds Well School Partnership Years 5 and 6 Open Cricket festival at Morley Cricket Club. The event went really well and our players did a great job persevering in the heat.

Congratulations to the Y4 Open Cricket Team who had a great day at Pudsey Congs Cricket Club. They were very proud to return to school wearing Bronze medals.

LWSP Y5/6 TAG RUGBY FINAL - SUMMER 1 - 25/05/2023

Today, we were very proud to take a team of 8 children to compete in the Leeds Well School Partnership Years 5.6 Competitive Tag Rugby Final 2023. The competition was high and our Stanningley Primary School team played with skill and determination. The final was hotly contested and after extra time Newlaithes Primary School and Horsforth St. Margarets could not be separated so they were both announced joint winners.

Y5/6 GIRLS OUTDOOR FOOTBALL - SUMMER 1 - 23/05/2023

Stanningley Primary enjoyed attending the Girls Yr 5 and 6 Football Event at Leeds West Academy. Congratulations to Raynville on winning this event.

Brownlee Foundation MINI TRIATHLON - SUMMER 1 - 19/05/23

Today, a selection of children from Y6 participated in a Mini Triathlon Event at the John Charles Stadium for Sport. The event involved a selection of KS2 children having an opportunity to try the disciplines of the triathlon. All children swam 50m, cycled 800m and ran 300M. After completing the event the children were all presented with a goody bag and medal. Thank you to The Brownlee Foundation for organising this inspiring event.

LWSP Y5/6 DEVELOP & PLAY NETBALL - SUMMER 1 - 16/05/2023

On Tuesday 16th May 2023, a team of 7 children represented Stanningley Primary School at the West Leeds Well School Partnership Yr5/6 Netball Development Festival. The event was held at Bramley St Peters Primary School. Although, no official results were given, since this was a develop and play event, our team had a very successful event. Stanningley Primary won 3 out of their 4 games and supported each other well. Well done.

Y3/4 GIRLS DYNAMO CRICKET - 'COMPETE' SUMMER 1 - 04/05/2023

CONGRATULATIONS to our Stanningley Primary School, Y4 Girls Cricket Team, on qualifying for the Leeds Final in June. Today, we were proud to take 8 of our Y4 Girls to the Leeds West Year 3/4 Cricket Competition at Pudsey St Lawrence Cricket Club. The children played competitive matches against Pudsey Southroyd and Pudsey St. Josephs. The children finished in first place and will now progress to the next stage in the competition.

Y3/4 OPEN KWIK CRICKET - 'DEVELOP & PLAY' - SUMMER 1 - 02/05/2023

On Tuesday 2nd May, Stanningley Primary School attended a develop and play cricket session at LWA. The children enjoyed completing the skills carousel before playing a game against Summerfield Primary. This was great preparation for the Leeds West Year 3/4 Cricket Competitions. These events include the Year 3/4 Girls Dynamos Cricket on the 4th May and the Year 3/4 Open Dynamos Cricket on the 5th June.

Y5/6 TAG RUGBY - SUMMER 1 - 18/04/2023

CONGRATULATIONS to our Stanningley Primary School Tag Rugby Team on qualifying for the Leeds Well School Partnership Tag Rugby Final. Today, we were proud to take our children to Yarnbury RFC to play in the qualifying stages. The children played in three groups and Stanningley were Group B winners. They will now progress to the Leeds Well School Partnership Competitive Tag Rugby Final. This will be held on Thursday 25th May at John Charles Centre for Sport.

Y5/6 HANDBALL - INSPIRE & ENGAGE - SPRING 2 - 21/03/2023

Today, a team of 5 boys and 1 girl attended the Y5.6 Handball event at Leeds West Academy. Handball has been described as football with hands, water-polo without the water, and basketball with nets. Some people say that it is the most exciting, high scoring, action packed team sport that can be played anywhere by anyone. Stanningley Primary School finished second place in Group 1. They progressed to Pitch 2 in the final game and came in 4th place overall.

KS2 DANCE - INSPIRE & ENGAGE - SPRING 1 - 07/02/2023

A selection of our KS2 girls, who had previously attended our dance club, were invited to the KS2 dance event at Leeds West Academy. This Inspire and Engage Event included, warm Up Dances led by Miss Neal, Dance taught by Miss Neal, Group work supported by student leaders and then the Group Performances. Well done girls, you were amazing.

2022/2023 LEEDS CROSS COUNTRY FINAL - SPRING 1 - 02/02/2023

Congratulations, to the children who represented Stanningley Primary School at the LEEDS Cross Country Final at Temple Newsam Estate. We were very proud to take 3 teams and and a wildcard runner to compete at this event. Although, none of our runners qualified for the West Yorkshire Final we were extremely proud of their performance. We are already looking forward to next year.

Today, 24th January, 6 children from Class 2 represented Stanningley at a Sports Event at LWA. The KS1 team had fun taking part in all the activities in such a big space.

Y5/6 MINI-TENNIS - SPRING 1 - 17/01/2023

Well done to our athletes who attended the mini tennis event at Leeds West Academy. Mr Downing sent the following message. Thank you so much for bringing the students down today for the Year 5 and 6 Mini Tennis event. I was really impressed with the students perseverance throughout the event, with what can be a very difficult sport to pick up and most importantly I think they enjoyed it.

Welldone SPS for topping the table at the Benchball event. The aim of the game was to work the ball forwards to find your teammate/teammates on the oppositions bench. The team showed great skill finding space and sending and receiving the ball.

Y5/6 GIRLS NETBALL - AUTUMN 1 - 18/10/22

Tonight, we attended the Year 5 and 6 compete Girls Netball at LWA. This was a 5-a-side event following the High 5 Netball rules. This was the first time the girls had played in Netball matches and we were very proud of their team performance.

WEST LEEDS SSP CROSS COUNTRY - AUTUMN 1 - 14/10/22

Today, Friday 14th October, a team of KS2 children attended the West Leeds School Games Cross Country at Stanningley ARLFC. Team scores were given to schools who had at least 4 runners finishing in a race. We were very proud of all of our runners. A special mention to AH who came first place in the Y5 Boys Race.

Y5/6 TAG RUGBY - AUTUMN 1 - 11/10/22

Tuesday 11th October, a group of Year 5 pupils competed in the Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby. Unfortunately, our Year 6 players were on a Y6 residential so we were very proud of some of our players who were giving TAG RUGBY a try for the very first time. This was a mixed boys and girls compete event and the event was organised to tie in with the Rugby League World Cup.

KS2 FUN RUN (CROSS COUNTRY) - AUTUMN 1 - 04/10/2022

Today, Tuesday 4th October, we were proud to take 33 children to attend a cross country event at Leeds West Academy. The Yr4 children ran approximately 900m and Yrs 5/6 ran approximately 1500m. Despite, the rain the children all did an amazing job and had fun.

LEEDS WELL SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP SEND ATHLETICS AUTUMN 1 - 04/10/2022

Today, we were proud to take a group of 8 children to the Leeds Well School Partnership SEND Develop and Play Athletics Event 2022. This was a fun, non competitive event aimed at giving children the opportunity to develop their fundamental skills through athletics. The children rotated, as a school group, around a range of different activity stations which willrnchallenged the their movement, balance, throwing and jumping skills.

It was great to be back at LWA for the first sports event of the new academic year. A team of 6 children represented Stanningley in a Y3.4 Dodge Ball Event. This was an INSPIRE AND ENGAGE EVENT which had emphasis on participation and inspiring participants to continue their physical activity journey. The children worked together well and had a great evening. They were well deserving of the highest score. Well done Team Stanningley.

Well done Team Stanningley. Today, Tuesday 28th June, we took a team of 30 children to compete in the Bramley Olympics. The Bramley Olympics is an outdoor track and field event and involved our children participating in athletics events against 6 of our cluster schools. It was a warm afternoon and the children did an amazing job. An extra special mention to our youngest children who came first in the KS1 Rainbow Club Event. Congratulations to ValleyView who were the overall winners.

SUMMER 2 - Y4 DYNAMO CRICKET - 13.6.22

On Monday 13th June, a Y4 team entended the Dynamos Cricket Competition at Pudsey Congs Cricket Club. This was a mixed gender event so 2 girls had to be representing school in all matches.

Y5/6 QUICK STICKS - SUMMER 1 - 03/05/22

On Tuesday 3rd May, we were excited to take a group of 5 children to the Come and Try Hockey Quicksticks event at Leeds West Academy. The pupils from Class 5 enjoyed the chance to try a different sport! Congratulations to Valley View and Bramley Park Academy who were the winners in each group!

Today, Tuesday 22nd March, a team of Y6 boys attended the Tag Rugby event. The boys enjoyed playing the games on the fields at LWA.

PANATHLON - SPRING - 17/2/22

CONGRATULATIONS TEAM STANNINGLEY PANATHLON WINNERS. A team of 6 boys represented Stanningley Primary School at the West Leeds Primary PANATHLON Event at Armley Leisure Centre on Thursday 17th February 2022. The Primary Panathlon is an inclusive sports event and featured a maximum of 8 teams competing across activities such as Boccia Blast, New Age Kurling, Tri Golf, Precision Bean Bag, Ten Pin Topple and Harlem Hoops. All schools took part in a carousel of activities as a group. The boys were very excited when the results were given. WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT TEAM STANNINGLEY CAME FIRST. They all received a certificate, gold medal and a team trophy.

Y5/6 HANDBALL - SPRING 1 - 01/02/22

Today, Tuesday 1st February, a team of Y6 children attended the Handball competition at LWA. The boys communicated well and showed a high degree of skill. The boys had a very successful evening and won all of their games.

WEST LEEDS SSP CROSS COUNTRY QUALIFIER - SPRING 1 - 26/1/22

Today Wednesday 26th November, a team of KS2 children attended the School Games West Leeds, Cross Country qualifier at Stanningley RL Club. Team scores were given to schools who have at least 4 runners finishing in a race. The top 3 teams in each race will go on to qualify for the Leeds Finals that weather permitting will be held on Tues 8th Feb at Temple Newsam. Wild card places will also be given for top placing runners.

Stanningley were proud to take two girls teams to the event at LWA. The girls enjoyed playing in this fun participation evening.

TRI-GOLF at LWA - AUTUMN 1 - 05/10/21

On Tuesday 5th October, Stanningley Primary attended the Tri Golf competition at LWA. Tri Golf is a fun and energetic version of golf that is perfect for Primary Schools and young aspiring golfers as they hit targets with their first golf shots. Tri Golf is a genuinely inclusive sport as it suits players of all abilities, which is great for Schools to incorporate it into their lessons. Every child can succeed in the games and with the flexibility between individual play and team interaction, it engages well with youngsters who might not want to play a traditional team sport. Tonight a team, made up of 5 boys and 5 girls, from Years 5 and 6 attended the event. 4 school teams completed a carousel around a number of different golf related activities scoring as many points as possible.

SSP CROSS COUNTRY at SARLFC - AUTUMN 1 - 30/09/21

On Thursday 30th September, Stanningley Primary attended the West Leeds SSP Cross Country Event at Stanningley Rugby Club. Due to the heavy rain, the races were doubled up meaning that Year 5 and 6 girls ran together and so did the boys. Stanningley entered 3 teams for the event including Year 4 boys, Y5 and 6 Girls, and Y5 and 6 Boys. Team scores were given to schools with 4 or more runners finishing in a single race. Medals were awarded to the first 3 individuals in each race. Two children from Stanningley were presented with a medal. One first place and one third place. We were extremely proud of all the runners from Stanningley. YOU WERE ALL AMAZING!

Today, Tuesday 21st September, we were proud to take 28 KS2 children to attend a cross country training event at Leeds West Academy. The Yr4 children ran approximately 900m and Yr5and6 ran approximately 1500m. The children all did an amazing job. WELL DONE TEAM STANNINGLEY!

BRAMLEY OLYMPICS MEDALS - 25.6.21

Here are a selection of children from our team of athletes from Year Five and Year Six, who we took to Bramley Olympics, receiving there medals and certificates. The team secured Second Place which is absolutely AMAZING and we could not be any more PROUD of each and every child who attended!

BRAMLEY OLYMPICS - 16.6.21

Today, we took a team of children from Year Five and Year Six to compete at the West of Leeds Bramley Olympics. It was SO LOVELY to be back competing and to see how much fun the children had. The event took place at the John Charles Stadium and it was such an experience for all competing. Stanningley Primary School placed SECOND which is absolutely AMAZING! Well done to all of the children involved. We are all incredibly PROUD of you!

WEST YORKSHIRE SCHOOL GAMES CROSS COUNTRY FINALS - 11/03/2020

Congratulations to FE and OR on qualifying for the level 3 county finals for cross country. This is a brilliant achievement which you should be so proud of. Today, Wednesday 11th March 2020, we were very proud to take our 2 wildcard runners to the West Yorkshire School Games Cross Country Final. The final was held at Temple Newsam Estate, Temple Newsam Road, Leeds. On registration our two girls were given district coloured T Shirts and chipped race numbers. We were extremely proud of the efforts of our runners. FE, who was not feeling her best on the day, ran the course in a time of 05.28. She came 110 out of the best 136 Year 3 girls in West Yorkshire. OR, ran the course in a time of 04.22. She came 25th out of the best 138 Year 4 girls in West Yorkshire.

Y3/4 TAG RUGBY - SPRING 2 - 5/3/2020

SO PROUD! Today, we were very proud to take a team of children from class 4 to represent Stanningley Primary in a TAG Rugby competition. Due to the bad weather we were unable to use the facilities at LWA so a big 'Thank you' to ValleyView for the loan of the school field. It was great to see all the children progress throughout the evening. The event was so important in terms of helping many of the children to understand more of how the game is played.

PANATHLON - SPRING 1 - 13/2/20

A team of 6 boys represented Stanningley Primary School at the West Leeds Primary PANATHLON Event at Pudsey Leisure Centre on Thursday 13th February 2020. The Primary Panathlon is an inclusive sports event and featured a maximum of 8 teams competing across activities such as * Boccia Blast * New Age Kurling * Tri Golf (Flight Path) * Precision Bean Bag * Table Cricket * Ten Pin Topple * Harlem Hoops All schools took part in a carousel of activities as a group. The boys were very excited when the results were given. WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT TEAM STANNINGLEY CAME THIRD. They all received a bronze medal and a team trophy.

SSP LEEDS KS2 CROSS COUNTRY FINAL - SPRING 1 - 5/2/20

Today, Wednesday 5th February 2020, we were very proud to take 4 teams and 2 wildcard runners to the Leeds Cross Country Final. The final was held at Temple Newsam Estate, Temple Newsam Road, Leeds. The children in Years 3 and 4 completed a course of approximately 900 metres and Years 5 and 6 1500 metres. Well done to all of our runners for completing the course. Your attendance at the final was a big accomplishment. The event had close to 1200 young people from across the city taking part in the races which was fantastic. WE ARE VERY PROUD TO ANNOUNCE, THAT FOLLOWING THE RESULTS, WE HAVE 2 WILDCARD ENTRIES FOR THE WEST YORKSHIRE CROSS COUNTRY FINAL. The West Yorkshire Final will be held on the 4th March 2020 and we will be entering a Y3 Girl and a Y4 Girl. Well done to all the children who competed.

WEST LEEDS SSP SHA FINAL - SPRING 1 - 9/1/20

Congratulations to Stanningley Primary School on reaching the West Leeds Final in Sports Hall Athletics. Mr Charlie Pyatt opened the event by announcing that the schools at the event tonight were the Best Six Schools in SHA, out of the 37 West Schools. THE BEST OF THE BEST IN THE WEST. Mr Pyatt explained that this event was part of The School Games and that this was funded by the National Lottery. Congratulations to Farsley SpringBank and St. Barts who will now progress to the Leeds Final.

Dodge Ball - Autumn 2 - 21.11.19

Wow! What a fantastic effort the Year 4 children gave at the Dodge Ball event this evening! The children worked fantastically as a team and were the overall winners at the event! Well done to all!

INDOOR ATHLETICS - AUTUMN 2 - 7.11.19

During this evenings event, the children has the opportunity to practise for the main competition next week. They were AMAZING! We have never seen our children so confident ad able with the track events and know that next week they will be just as good...if not better!

WEST LEEDS SSP CROSS COUNTRY - AUTUMN 2 - 6/11/19

Today Wednesday 6th November, a team of children attended the School Games West Leeds, Cross Country qualifier at Stanningley RL Club. It was a very wet afternoon and the children did a fantastic job running in some very muddy conditions. We are proud to announce that several of our children received a medal for placing in the top three in their event.

Due to the adverse weather, we were unable to compete outdoors against the other cluster school in our netball practice event. Nevertheless, all of the schools adapted incredibly well to the space available to us indoor in order to practise basic skills for our upcoming SSP netball event. Well done to every child involved for coping with this change!

Y5 Leeds Primary Schools Duathlon - AUTUMN 1 - 4/10/19

On Friday 4th October we were pleased to be part of a competitive team duathlon. The event required teams to complete the standard duathlon race format of run, cycle, run. The distances were 750 metre run, 2.5km cycle, 350 metre run. The team consisted of six team members. Three boys and three girls. This event was open to year five pupils only. The children event was at the Brownlee Centre. The Brownlee Centre is named after Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, two of the most successful triathletes of their time and two of the University of Leeds most successful sporting alumni. The Brownlee Centre is the UKs first purpose built triathlon training centre and is the permanent home for the world leading Leeds Triathlon Centre, of which the University of Leeds is a key partner.

SSP CROSS COUNTRY at TFA - AUTUMN 1 - 26/09/19

On Thursday 26th September Stanningley Primary attended the Cross Country Event at The Farnley Academy. Stanningley entered 4 teams for the event including Year 4 boys, Y5 Girls, Y5 Boys and Year 6 Boys. Team scores were given to schools with 4 or more runners finishing in a single race. Medals were awarded to the first 3 individuals in each race. Two children from Stanningley were presented with a medal with a third child narrowly missing out. We were extremely proud of all the runners from Stanningley. YOU WERE ALL AMAZING!

KS2 CROSS COUNTRY - AUTUMN 1 - 19/09/19

Stanningley Primary used the opportunity to take as many runners as they could manage to the cross country event at Leeds West Academy. Yr 3/4 will ran approximately 900m and Yr 5/6 1500m. This was a great opportunity for children to get used to running long distances ahead of the upcoming SSP events.

STANNINGLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORTS DAY 2019 - 3/7/19

Sports Day 2019 was a massive success. The sun was morning on us all day. What a brilliant day we all had. Thank you to all the adults who came along to show support, this was much appreciated. Sports Day offers the opportunity for all children in school to engage in competitive sports and activities. The National Curriculum Physical Education, purpose of study states, 'A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.'

On Thursday 28th March the children competed in the Bramley West Final at GOALS in Kirkstall. The children enjoyed playing at this great venue. The points from the previous football events were carried forward and the games were tight. We were very proud of the boys. At the end of the evening Mr Pyatt announced that both ValleyView and Stanningley Primary School were the winners of the competition and will now proceed to the Schools Sport Partnership West Final on Thursday 25th April. Well done Stanningley.

Y4 SKIPPING FESTIVAL AT LWA - SPRING 2 - 18/03/19

On Monday 18th March Class 4 ALL competed in the Skipping Festival Event at Leeds West Academy. The Skipping Festival Event is a competition based celebration of skipping. The range of skipping challenges has been carefully selected to engage children of ALL ability levels ensuring the project is fully inclusive. At the festival the children represented Stanningley Primary School and competed against pupils from four local primaries in the variety of skipping challenges. We were proud to announce that Stanningley Primary were the winners of the skipping dance. We also had many outstanding performances in both individual and team events.

Y3/4 TAG RUGBY - SPRING 2 - 21/3/19

SO PROUD! Today, we were very proud to take a team of children from class 4 to represent Stanningley Primary in a TAG Rugby competition at Leeds West Academy. A Special mention goes to HW who was fantastic you showed a wide range of skill. The rest of the team did really well growing in confidence as the games progressed.

Y3/4 DODGEBALL - SPRING 1 - 7/2/19

On Thursday 7th February we were proud to take a team of six Y4 boys to new event at Leeds West Academy. The children had very limited experience of playing dodgeball but no previous experience was necessary. Although this was a friendly event, the boys took much pleasure in winning their games.

MINI TENNIS - SPRING 1 - 10/1/19

On Thursday 10th January we took a team of four girls and four boys from Years four and five to learn new skills for the mini tennis qualifiers which will be taking place shortly. All teams played well showing excellent sportsmanship and a progression in skill. Well done.

Today, we were pleased to take 15 children to compete in the Leeds Cross Country Festivals at Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School. The Year 4 Children ran a distance of approx. 900 metres. This was then followed by the Year 5 children running a distance of 1500 metres. We were very proud of all our children who completed the course. Well done!

INCLUSIVE MULTI SKILLS - AUTUMN 2 - 22/11/18

On Thursday 22nd November a small group of Y4 girls attended a Multi-Skills session, at Leeds West Academy. The evening consisted of a carousel of taster sessions in four different inclusive sports - Boccia, Tri-Golf, Goalball & New Age Kurling. The girls had a great time trying new sports in a supportive environment.

Today, Thursday 27th September, we were proud to take 23 children to attend a cross country event at Leeds West Academy. The event ran in the same way as the Active Schools event. There were 6 races in total (Year 4 Girls, 4 Boys, 5 Girls, 5 Boys, 6 Girls, 6 Boys). The Yr4 children ran approximately 900m and Yr5/6 ran approximately 1500m. The children all did an amazing job. The Y4 team performed exceptionally well together and Y5 and 6 had many personal best performances. WELL DONE TEAM STANNINGLEY!

WE START 2018/19 BY CELEBRATING SCHOOL GAMES MARK 17/18

WE ARE PLATINUM. We are delighted to announce that we, Stanningley Primary School, have achieved the PLATINUM School Games Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year. The Schools Game Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. ROUNDERS - SUMMER 2 - 5/07/18

On Thursday 5th July, a team of 9 children represented Stanningley Primary School in two games of rounders, at Leeds West Academy. The children played against Raynvile and Bramley Primary Schools and we are happy to report that the children won both of their games. Well done!

Well done Team Stanningley! Today, Tuesday 26th June, we took a team of 30 children to compete in the Bramley Olympics. The Bramley Olympics is an outdoor track and field event and involved our children participating in athletics events against 7 of our cluster schools. It was a very hot afternoon and the children did an amazing job. Congratulations to ValleyView who were the overall winners.

SSP TRI-GOLF COMPETITION - SUMMER 2 - 21/06/18

On Thursday 21st June, ten children from Y5/6 represented Stanningley Primary School in the Tri-Golf Competition at LWA. This was a School Sports Partnership Event. Stanningley were one of two teams who attended the competition with the correct team ratios. 5 girls and 5 boys. The team played exceptionally well in the beautiful sunshine.

SAINSBURY'S SCHOOL GAMES (SPORTS DAY) - SUMMER 2 - 21/06/18

Today, Thursday 21st June, the results from Sports Day were shared with the school. Before announcing the winners of the 2018 competition, Mrs Stott-Moore spoke about the day and the way that every single child in school was included. She spoke about the Olympic values of Friendship, Respect and Excellence. Before discussing the four Paralympic values of Determination, Inspiration, Courage and Equality. The values underpinned the 2012 Olympic Games in London but they are a set of universal principles that can be applied to education and our lives, as well as to sport itself. The whole school applauded the GREEN TEAM winners as they came out to the front of the hall, to receive their medals. The final applause, was a participation applause, for all of the children that participated. We are very proud of all of our STANNINGLEY SUPER STARS!

SAINSBURY'S SCHOOL GAMES (SPORTS DAY) - SUMMER 2 - 20/06/18

Wow, Sports Day 2018 was a massive success. The morning drizzle did not stop KS1 from having a brilliant morning. The afternoon weather improved and KS2 enjoyed a fabulous afternoon. What a brilliant day we have all had at our annual Sports Day. Thank you to all the adults who came along to show support, this was much appreciated. Y5/6 GIRLS TAG RUGBY - SUMMER 2 - 14/6/18

On, Tuesday 20th March, as part of our Healthy Week, Lois Forsell, Competitions Coordinator and Girls Rugby Development Officer arranged a free PE lesson for Y6 girls to tie in to Stanningley launching a team at U12's. Following the success of this session we entered a team of girls to play in the TAG Rugby competition at Crawshaw Academy on Thursday 14th June. The girls had a fantastic time and experienced a win, a draw and a loss. We are proud of all our girls and it gives us great pleasure to announce that a group of girls are now attending the sessions at Stanningley Rugby Club.

Y2 ATHLETICS - SUMMER 2 - 7/6/18

On Thursday 7th June, ten children from Year 2 attended a KS1 Rainbow Club at Leeds West Academy. The rainbow club events include a variety of activities that are scored by young leaders. The events include skipping, throwing and catching, balancing, running, dribbling and a few more. Well done Year 2.

BROWNLEE TRIATHLON EVENT - SUMMER 1 - 25/5/18

Despite the rain, 10 girls from Y6 had a fantastic morning at the Brownlee Triathlon Event at the John Charles Stadium for Sport. You will no doubt be aware of the successes of the Brownlee Brothers over the past years and we were delighted to be part of this wonderful opportunity for schools to be involved in a Triathlon experience day. The Brownlee Foundation has been set up by Alistair and Jonny so they can give something back to the Leeds School community. They are adamant that a lot of their success is down to people they met as youngsters around schools, clubs and events who had a fantastic passion for sport. The Brownlee Triathlon Event encourages children to try a new sport and inspire them to be the next generation of Brownlees. We were very proud to watch the girls take part in the triathlon, where all the children swam 30m, cycled 1k and ran 400M.

Y5/6 TRI-GOLF - SUMMER 1 - 24/5/18

It was a pleasure to take a team of 10 children to the Tri-Golf Competition at Leeds West Academy on Thursday 24th May 2018. TriGolf is a fun, energetic, version of golf which children in primary schools can enjoy with their classmates as they hit the target with their first golf shots. Tri-Golf is genuinely inclusive as it suits all abilities; every child can succeed in the games and with the flexibility between individual play and team interaction, it engages well with youngsters who might not want to play a traditional team sport. Tri-Golf promotes Skills for Life attributes including co-operation, good sportsmanship and concentration and is designed to be used across curriculum learning. This event was a taster competition in preparation for the School Sports Partnership Event that will be held next month.

Today, the children enjoyed playing two friendly cricket matches against ValleyView and Raynville. Many of the children were playing cricket for the first time and we were proud of their commitment and enthusiasm. Well done!

Y5 WEST LEEDS TENNIS FINAL - SUMMER 1 - 26/04/18

On Thursday 26th April, the Year Five tennis team took part in the West Leeds Tennis final. The standard of play from all teams was exceptionally high and all four of our players played to the best of their abilities! Stanningley Primary came third in the West of Leeds for Tennis and all of the children were incredibly proud pf their achievements. Well done to all!

Y3/4 TAG RUGBY - SPRING 2 - 22/3/18

Tonight, the Y3/4 TAG RUGBY team played a tournament against 5 of our cluster schools. Stanningley won 4 games and drew 1 therefore finishing with 13 points. The boys played incredibly well showing a high level of skill. We are very proud to announce that we were the tournament winners. Well done Team Stanningley!

Y5/6 GIRLS NETBALL **2 Night** - SPRING 1 - 25/1/18

Tonight, the Y5/6 Netball Team returned to Leeds West Academy for the second night of the competition. Across the evening there was some great netball played and also what must be a record 50 goals scored across all the games – well done to all! Congratulations did go to Bramley St. Peters, who just piped Stanningley to the line by virtue of scoring one more goal over the course of the competition. BSP will now go forward to represent our cluster and the West SSP Partnership finals.

Y5/6 GIRLS NETBALL - SPRING 1 - 18/1/18

Tonight, we were proud to take a team of girls to compete in the first night, of a two night netball tournament. This event will take place over both the 18th and 25th so schools need to attend on both nights. The top team from our cluster will go forward to represent us at the School Sports Partnership finals. Our competition started well with a 3-0 win against Whitecote. The second match ended with a 1-1 draw against Bramley St. Peters. Stanningley will return next week to play the remaining four matches. Well done girls!

Today, we took a team of 8 players to compete in the 7-a-side cluster competition at Leeds West Academy. The children enjoyed playing 4 games against other local schools. Well done team Stanningley.

INDOOR ATHLETICS - AUTUMN 1 - 05/10/17

Today, nineteen children from Year Five and Year Six were taken to Leeds West Academy to take part in an indoor athletics event. The session was aimed at the children practicing their skills in preparation for the main competition coming up very shortly! The children performed amazingly against an additional three schools from our cluster. During this event, our combined scores for the field and track events for both girls and boys was third place.

CROSS COUNTRY - AUTUMN 1 - 28/09/17

Today, Thursday 28th September, we were proud to take 26 children to attend a cross country practice event at Leeds West Academy. The event ran in the same way as the Active Schools event. There were 6 races in total (Year 4 Girls, 4 Boys, 5G, 5B, 6G, 6B). The Yr4 children ran approximately 900m and Yr5/6 ran approximately 1500m.

NETBALL SKILLS - AUTUMN 1 - 21/09/17

On Thursday 21st September 2017 six Y5/6 girls attended a High-5 Netball skills training session at Leeds West Academy. The girls at lots of fun completing the drills and are now looking forward to the tournaments.

CROSS COUNTRY - AUTUMN 1 - 19/09/17

The first West School Sport Partnership event of the year was the Cross Country at The Farnley Academy. This was an introductory event. All of the children, many of which were new to the event, were amazing and showed real determination.

Despite the weather, the children enjoyed the School Games Competition for 2017. The calculations have now been checked and verified and we are pleased to announce that THE RED TEAM, were the overall winners for 2017. All members of the winning team were proud to be presented with their winners medals. WELL DONE TO ALL FOR ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL DAY.

2017 School Games Competition (Spirit Alive) - 5/7/17

On Wednesday 5th July, each class took part in our School Games Competition (Spirit Alive) on the school playground (due to the wet weather preventing us from accessing the park). The children competed in different coloured teams. Each colour, represented a country that the children had been busy learning about in class. The children taking part all earned points for their team, which were then added together to create our final results.

The Rainbow Club event involves a team of 10 KS1 children competing in 9 separate activities. Each event last for 5 minutes per station and the children move between events swiftly in a clockwise direction. Points are collected at each station. The 9 activities include; Skipping, Throw and Catch, Balance, Speed Bounce, Target, Kool Kilometre, Quoit on the Head, Hockey Dribble and Chest Push. The Stanningley KS1 Rainbow Team collected 59 points to add to the overall score. Well done!
SSP Y3/4 MINI TENNIS FINAL - SUMMER 2 - 6/6/17

On Tuesday 6th June 2017, we were very proud to take 4x YEAR 4 children to represent Stanningley at the SSP MINI-TENNIS FINAL AT ARMLEY TENNIS CLUB. The level of player at this competition had increased and the children from Stanningley showed incredible resilience throughout. WE WERE SO PROUD - WELL DONE!!

SKY SPORTS LIVING - SUMMER 1 - 16/5/17

Sky Sports Living for Sport is run in partnership with Youth Sport Trust and forms one-day sports projects with schools, supported by world-class Athlete Mentors, to inspire young people and them to build confidence and practical skills. As part of this initiative, Sky Sport Living for Sport Live allows primary school children to take part in sports, skills and challenge sessions led by world-class Sky Sports Living for Sport Athlete Mentors, with the aim of building life skills through sport. Today, Tuesday 16th May the children participated in a range of activities that included, 4 x sport based activity sessions delivered by Athlete Mentors and Volunteers from Sky and Young Leader Mentors and 1 x Healthy living session that introduced healthy food choices based around the Change4Life programme. Each of the listed sessions also focused on key life skills such as Never giving up and Facing a challenge. We are proud to announce that at the end of the day, the children from Stanningley Primary School were presented with the trophy for winning the overall event. Y5/6 Cricket - SUMMER 1 - 4/5/17

This week, we took the Y5/6 Cricket Team to LWA to play in their cricket competition. The children were fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed learning the skills of cricket! Well done all!

Y3/4 TAG RUGBY - SUMMER 1 - 26/4/17

SO PROUD! Today, we were very proud to take a team of children from classes 3&4 to represent Stanningley Primary in a TAG Rugby competition at Leeds West Academy. The children played exceptionally well and finished the competition in second place. WELL DONE!!

Y5/6 TAG RUGBY - SUMMER 1 - 19/4/17

The Y5/6 Mixed Tag Rugby Team played against three teams from with our cluster at this afternoons tag rugby event. The competition was incredibly strong, resulting in us coming in third position behind Valley View and Whitecote Primary School. The children worked amazingly as a team and will use what they have learnt from this event going forward into future competitions. Well done to all! We were very proud!

Y5/6 FOOTBALL - SPRING 2 - 16/3/17

This week, the Y5/6 football team played at the next stage of the Sainsbury's School Sport Football competition. The team were absolutely fantastic! They showed fantastic team spirit and this really worked to secure the team coming first place in the competition! Stanningley Primary School and Valley View will now go forward from out cluster to the next stage of the competition. Well done to all of the players!

Y4/5&6 CROSS COUNTRY - SPRING 1 - 1/02/17

The SSP cross country event was held at Priesthorpe School on Wednesday 1st February. We were delighted to take a selection of children to compete individually from Y4,5&6. The Y4 circuit was approximately 900m and then extend to 1500m for years 5 and 6.

Y5/6 Netball - Spring 1 - 26/1/17

This week, the Y5/6 Girls Netball Team played at the second stage of the cluster competition. The competition standard was incredibly high and although the girls did not go through to the next stage, we were all very impressed by their determination and team work.

Y4/5 MINI TENNIS - SPRING 1 - 5/1/17 & 12/1/17

Our first two sports events to begin the Spring Term were in preparation for the Sainsbury's School Games Mini Tennis event. For two weeks, we have been able to take fourteen children from Y4 and Y5 to Leeds West Academy to practise their tennis skills prior to the event. The children performed brilliantly each week and showed excellent team spirit throughout the sessions. Y5/6 B-Team Boys Football - Autumn 2 - 15.12.16

This week, our B-Team Y5/6 football team played against other B-Teams from the cluster at LWA. This was the first competitive event for many of the boys and they gave their all! The boys lost their first game 1-0 but in their second game achieved a 2-0 victory with winning goals from Isaac and Oliver! Well done all!

Y5/6 Girls Football - Autumn 2 - 8/12/16

This week, the Y5/6 girls from SPS competed against our cluster schools in a friendly football competition. The girls played amazingly well and gave so much effort. As a result, we came second place! A huge well done to Libby for scoring a super goal!

This week, we took our A and B Team Y5/6 Netball Team to LWA for the next stage of this years cluster netball competition. Both teams played fantastically and are through to the next round of the cluster competition. Well done all!

SSP Y5/6 TAG RUGBY - AUTUMN 2 - 3/11/16

To begin the new half term, twenty seven children from Y5/6 attended the SSP Tag Rugby event at SARLFC. After a slow start, the children soon found their enthusiasm and played to their full potential. The teamwork, communication and behaviour of all of the children made everyone so proud!

WEST LEEDS ACTIVITY CENTRE - AUTUMN 1 - 6/10/16

Today, schools from the Bramley Cluster were invited to the West Leeds Activity Centre to experience some of the activities that they have to offer. Six Y5 children took park in an orienteering session and also spent time on the inflatable gladiator activity. A super time was had by all!

Y5/6 FOOTBALL WEEK 1 - AUTUMN 1 - 29/9/16

The Y5/6 football team made a successful start to Bramley Cluster football tournament, winning all 4 games played. The evening started well with a 3-0 win against Bramley. This continued with a 2-0 win against Bramley St. Peters and a 2-1 win against Raynville. The final match was against Whitecote, where with a 1-0 win the boys ended the evening unbeaten.

A team of children from Years 5 and 6 took part in a rounders competition at Leeds West Academy. Despite the sudden downpour of rain the children had a great night and managed to win all 3 of their games. Well done to our team!

Leeds Mini-Tennis City Finals - Summer 2 - 22/06/16

Four children from year four competed in the Leeds Mini Tennis Finals. The top ten schools in the city played each other at the Indoor Tennis Center at John Charles Center for Sport. The competition was fierce with many competitors regular club players. Our children performed fantastically and are now the ninth best team in Leeds!

Today, Tuesday 21st June 2016, Stanningley took a team of 30 pupils to represent the school at the Bramley Olympics. The event was held at John Charles Stadium, Leeds. This outdoor track and field event involved the children participating in athletics events against the eight other schools in our cluster. This year, Stanningley performed the best yet, resulting in our school receiving the bronze medals and third place! Well done to the children from 'Valley View,' who were the competition winners. ALL children should be incredibly PROUD of themselves - you were AMAZING! Well done!

SSP Y5/6 CRICKET - SUMMER 1 - 20/5/16

Today, Stanningley Primary School were pleased to take a Y5/6 mixed cricket team to play in the SSP Y5/6 Cricket Competition at Farsley Cricket Club. The team were exceptionally behaved and showed great sportsmanship. Unfortunately they narrowly missed winning the competition by only a few points. We are all incredibly proud. A super second place result. Well done!

SSP MIXED NETBALL - SUMMER 1 - 17/5/16

The mixed netball team made a great start to the evening winning the first game in their group 7-0 against Pudsey Bolton Royd B. They continued playing well with a 4-0 win against Hollybush. The third match was against Castleton and the team won 3-1 with Castleton only managing to score in the closing seconds. The final group match against Lower Wortley was more of a challenge with a final score of 2-2. Stanningley were Group winners and went through to the Semi Finals. Unfortunately, for Stanningley, Bolton Royd A went on to the finals. STANNINGLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL CAME THIRD OUT OF THE THIRTEEN TEAMS THAT STARTED. Well done to all who played!!!

TRI-GOLF - SUMMER 1 - 13/5/16

In November 2000, the Golf Foundation launched a ‘mini’ version of golf specifically for use by young children in primary schools. Today, were very proud to take a Tri-Golf team to compete at LWA against our cluster schools. The team had a very successful evening and when the scores were announced we were very proud of our second place.

Y5/6 SSP WEST FOOTBALL FINAL - SUMMER 1 - 04/05/16

Congratulations again to our Y5/6 Football Team on qualifying for the SSP Football final at Priesthorpe. The team had a very successful evening qualifying with the top four teams into the semi-final. The team played Park Spring in the Semi- Finals where despite a very close game Park Spring scored the goal that took them through to the final. Proudly, we left with joint third place medals after drawing with Holy Family. Well done all, you were all amazing. 35 teams from the West started this competition and you finished third!!!!!!!!!!

Y5/6 MIXED TAG RUGBY - SUMMER - 21/4/16

To begin this terms events, children from Y5/6 competed in a mixed tag rugby session at Stanningley Rugby Club. The standard was very high, with all four teams competing putting is so much effort. Stanningley came first, winning two out of the four games, drawing one and losing one game in the final minute! Well done to all who took part! Especially KG who powered through every game and HW who was celebrating his tenth birthday!

Y6 TABLE TENNIS - SPRING 2 - 31/3/16

This session was an introductory session to table tennis, building upon any existing skills and developing new ones. The children had a super time and showed that they are extremely talented. It is hoped that there will be more opportunity for table tennis within the cluster again soon! Well done all!

Y5/6 FOOTBALL - SPRING 2 - 24/3/16

Following on from their successful first round win, the Y5/6 football team played exceptionally well at this evenings second round. Stanningley won four out of the six games played, drawing on a fifth and lost the sixth in the final minute! The team played incredibly well, showing great enthusiasm and teamwork. The final score was 29 points. Stanningley and Whitecoate (27 points) will go forward to compete at the West Leeds finals. Well done all!

Y6 ORIENTEERING - SPRING 2 - 18/3/16

On Friday 18th March, Y6 took part in an orienteering competition that was organised by Team Activ and Fulneck School as part of Sport Relief day. The competition was a super opportunity for the children to take part in a fun, adventurous, challenging afternoon of orienteering around the grounds of Fulneck School. The activity linked to many areas of the National Curriculum; enhancing social skills, teamwork, decision making, fitness & wellbeing and more. We were very pleased to find out that the winning team was a team from Stanningley!!!

Y5/6 5-A-SIDE FOOTBALL - SPRING 2 - 11/3/16

Unfortunately due to a water logged field we had a change to the Y5/6 football competition. Instead the children played a 5 a side competition in the MUGA. It was decided that the points from this competition would not be carried through. However, Stanningley had a very successful night and finished competition winners.

Tonight, the Y3/4 football team played together for the first time, against three other schools in our cluster. We were very proud of the way that the children worked together in a team.

SSP CROSS COUNTRY - SPRING 2 - 01/03/16

On Tuesday 1st March Stanningley Primary took a team of children to compete in the cross country event at Priesthorpe School. The team involved children from years 4, 5 and 6 and they were all AMAZING! The weather was a little challenging at times, but the children did not let this deter them! We are pleased to announce that the Y5 girls came fourth in their event, the Year 6 girls came fifth and the year 5 boys came sixth. In total, thirteen schools competed and the competition standard was high - you were all STARS!

The Y5/6 team made a successful start to the cluster football competition. The competition will run over 3 nights and we were very pleased to finish the first stage with the most points. We are already looking forward to the next set of games in a few weeks time.

On Thursday 4th February a team of 6 girls represented Stanningley at the Netball Cluster Final at LWA. The girls played incredibly well and won 3 of the 4 games they played. On Thursday 14th January, a second team of children attended the Mini Tennis competition at Leeds West Academy. The children from Stanningley competed against children from Raynville, Bramley and Valley View Primary Schools.

The children from Stanningley competed against Bramley St. Peters and Valley View in a Tennis competition at Leeds West Academy. None of the children had competed in a tennis tournament before and the staff were very impressed with the standard of skill and also the sportsmanship.

Y5/6 - 5 A SIDE FOOTBALL - AUTUMN 2 - 17/12/15

The boys had a very successful night playing against four other teams in the 5 a-side competition at Leeds West Academy. Together, they managed to win all of their matches and displayed excellent sportsmanship. The team gained maximum points and were outright winners of the competition. Well done boys! The girls played three fantastic games during the Y5/6 Girls Football Competition. The standard was high, but Stanningley managed to win two out of the three games played and drew on the third. The team came joint first place with Bramley, with a three point goal difference ahead of Bramley too! Amazing work girls, well done!

Y5/6 Athletics - Autumn 2 - 29.11.15

The children from Year 5/6 competed in the indoor athletics competition at Farnley Academy. Every child put so much effort into every event that they entered. The competition was very tough and we are all so proud of how the children performed. Stanningley came third place, just missing second place by four points difference. Well done team!

INCLUSIVE MULTI SKILLS - AUTUMN 2

On Thursday 19th November and Thursday 3rd December 2015 a selection of children from KS2 attended a Multi-Skills session at Leeds West Academy. The event consisted of a carousel of taster sessions in four different inclusive sports - Boccia, Tri-Golf, Goalball & New Age Kurling.

Y5/6 GIRLS NETBALL - AUTUMN 2 - 12/11/15

Tonight, Thursday 12th November, a team of Y6 girls represented Stanningley in the group stage of the Hi-5 Netball competition. Stanningley had a very successful evening winning games against Summerfield, Hollybush and Christ the King and having a 1-1 draw with Bramley. The girls are now through to the next stage in the competition and will play again on the 4th February. The winning team, at that stage, will qualify to represent the Bramley Cluster at the West Leeds SSP finals night. Well done girls.

TAG RUGBY - AUTUMN 2 - 06/11/15

Today, Friday 6th November 2015, Stanningley were one of twenty five teams to enter the Schools Sport Partnership, Tag Rugby Competition. The competition was held at SARLC and the children were lucky to play on the main club pitch. Stanningley started the competition in Pool E. Stanningley won their first game against Summerfield 4-0. The second game was against Pudsey Lowtown and was another win to Stanningley 3-1. The third game brought our first defeat against Lower Wortley with a score of 2-1. The last pool game brought us a 4-0 win against ValleyView. The winners of Pool E were Lower Wortley but we went through to the next stage of the competition due to our high score. Stanningley were excited to play in the Quarter Finals. They won their first match making it to the semi final. Unfortunately a try was disallowed and after a player was injured, the team narrowly missed out on the final by losing against Parkside. Proudly we can announce that Stanningley won the play off round and came third in the Tag Rugby Competition. Well done team Stanningley. YOU WERE AMAZING!

Sportshall Athletics - Autumn 1 - 8.10.15

For the Sportshall Athletics event, we were able to take eighteen children from Year 5 and Year 6 to Leeds West Academy. Once there, the session enabled the children to practise all of the events that they would take part in during the forthcoming competitions. What a fantastic team of children! The sportsmanship, encouragement and drive from all children made all of the staff at SPS incredibly proud! Well done!

CROSS COUNTRY - AUTUMN 1 - 07/10/15

The first School Sport Partnership event of the year was the Cross Country at The Farnley Academy. This was an introductory event, and the qualifier for the WY School games will be on Tuesday 1st March. All of the children were amazing and showed real determination. We were pleased to announce that KG came second in the Y6 Boys event and was a presented with a medal. We were so proud of all our athletes - you did us proud!!!!

Brownlee Foundation Triathlon - Autumn 1 - 28th September '15

On Monday 28th September 2015 a selection of children from Upper Key Stage 2 represented Stanningley at the triathlon Event at John Charles Stadium for Sport. You will no doubt be aware of the successes of the Brownlee Brothers Triathlon competitors over the past few years. We were delighted to be part of a wonderful opportunity for schools that involved a Triathlon experience with Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee. The Brownlee foundation had been set up by Alistair and Jonny so they could give something back to the Leeds School community. The brothers are adamant that a lot of their success is down to people they met as youngsters around schools, clubs and events who had a fantastic passion for sport. The event involved a selection of KS2 children having an opportunity to try the disciplines of the triathlon. All the children swam 30m, cycled 1k and ran 400M (all distances are approx.)

Netball Skills Night - Autumn 1 - 24th September '15

Today, 8 girls from class 5 attended a High-5 Netball skills training session at Leeds West Academy. The girls had to participate in a number of netball drills as well as taking part in a few small sided games. The girls had a fabulous time.

Spirt Alive (Sports Day) - 09/07/15

On Tuesday 7th July the Reception and KS1 Sports Day was a great success. Unfortunately, at lunch time the rain fell and left us with no alternative but to postpone the KS2 event. Today, Thursday 9th July, the sun was shining and KS2 went out on Stanningley Park. The children were amazing and all competed in a minimum of 5 races. At Stanningley Primary we are proud that the whole school from Nursery to Year 6 take part in our Sports Day Event. The children from Reception Class to Y6 were split into teams and ran for points in this whole school Sainsburys School Games Competition.

Children from Year 5 and Year 6 attended a mixed rounders event at Leeds West Academy. The team played several friendly games that gave the players a chance to learn the game and understand the rules. The children made so much progress within each game that enabled them to win every match! Well done!

Y5/6 LEEDS MIXED NETBALL FINAL - SUMMER 2 - 09/06/15

Today, Monday 8th June the children went to Leeds Beckett University to take part in the Leeds Mixed Netball Final. There was a really friendly atmosphere throughout the event, and some really exciting games! Schools competing for a place in the West Yorkshire School Games were; Woodlesford, Froebelian, Wigton Moor, Kippax Greenfield and of course Stanningley. The standard of netball was very high with some really exciting close games. Kippax Greenfield and Frobelian finished the group stage on the same amount of points and are both through to the West Yorkshire Summer School Games next month! Results 1st Froebelian 2nd Kippax Greenfield 3rd Woodlesford 4th Stanningley 5th Wigton Moor We were very proud of our team. You finished the competition the 4th best in Leeds.

The girls attended the SSP girls cricket competition at Pudsey St Lawrence Cricket Club. The girls came third out of the ten teams competing in the hot summer sun! A fantastic result girls, you should be very proud!

Y5/6 SSP MIXED NETBALL - SUMMER 2 - 03/6/15

Congratulations to our mixed netball team on winning every single game tonight in the SSP West competition. This was High 5 Netball with full rotation rules, meaning that every child played in every position. We have now qualified for the LEEDS FINAL which will be held on Monday at Becketts Park. Well done Superstars!

Y5/6 GIRLS CRICKET - SUMMER 1 - 21/5/15

The Y5/6 girls cricket team played in a friendly competition, against Valley View and Raynville, at Leeds West Academy. This session will hopefully prepare the girls for the forthcoming competitive cricket competition at Pudsey St. Lawrence after the holidays. The Y4 cricket team played their first competitive matches today in the Drax competition that was held at Pudsey Congs Cricket Club.

Y5/6 CRICKET - SUMMER 1 - 7/5/15

Children from Year 5 and Year 6 were invited to attend a 'friendly' cricket competition, against our cluster schools, at Leeds West Academy. This session was arranged to prepare the children for the forthcoming competitive cricket competition. The children won all of the games which they played - Well done!

Y5/6 SSP WEST FOOTBALL FINAL - SUMMER 1 - 27/04/15

Congratulations again to our Y5/6 Football Team on qualifying for the SSP Football final at Priesthorpe. The boys had a very successful evening winning their pool and qualifying with the top four teams into the semi-final. Unfortunately the boys just missed out on the final game (losing in a penalty shoot out 1-0) Happily, we left with joint third place medals after drawing with Pudsey Waterloo. Well done boys you were all amazing. 35 teams from the West started this competition and you finished third!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were very proud of our Y3/4 Tag Rugby Team tonight when they competed together in the cluster tournament at Stanningley Rugby Club. This was the first time that they had worked together as a team and they showed that they have a lot of future potential. It was great to see some great runs down the wing. Well done all!

Y3/4 SSP WEST TENNIS FINAL - SPRING 2 - 16/03/15

Congratulations again to our Y3/4 tennis team on qualifying for the SSP Tennis finals at Priesthorpe. We were one of 5 teams to qualify. The qualifying teams were; 1) Southroyd 2) Stanningley 3) Valley View 4) Farsley Farfield & 5) Calverley C of E. Tonight, after a very intense competition, Stanningley finished in second place and qualified for the Leeds finals which will be held on Thursday 7th May at the tennis centre JCCS 12-30 to 4-30pm. Councillor Kevin Ritchie and Gail Palmer-Smeaton (Active Schools Strategic Lead) presented our team with their certificates. Well done to Stanningley!!!!!

Y5/6 NETBALL CLUSTER FINAL - SPRING 2 - 12/03/15

WOW! Tonight the Y5/6 girls won the netball cluster final. They played confidently and won all 3 games. The goal shooters were outstanding. We are now looking forward to the next stage of the competition at Priesthorpe on Wed 22nd April. Well done girls!

Y5/6 GIRLS FOOTBALL - SPRING 2 - 05/03/15

Girls from years five and six, took part in a football competition at Leeds West Academy. Out of the three schools that attended, Stanningley girls scored an amazing 10 points, winning three of the four games played and drawing the other! The girls came first place and we are so proud of their achievements! Well done!

Congratulations again to our Y5 tennis team on qualifying for the SSP Tennis finals at Priesthorpe. We were one of 5 teams to qualify. The qualifying teams were; 1) Southroyd 2)Stanningley 3) Valley View 4) Waterloo & 5)Pudsey Primrose Hill. The competition was tough and our team played exceptionally well. We were proud to leave with 3rd place certificates.

Congratulations to our Stanningley Tennis Team who ran out winners of both competitions tonight. A big well done goes to our Y5 girl who played every single match for Stanningley due to a late withdrawal. Our mini-tennis team have now qualified for the SSP Tennis finals @ Priesthorpe.

Inclusive Multi Skills - Spring 1 - 22/01/15

On Thursday 22nd January 2015 a selection of children from KS2 attended a Multi-Skills session at Leeds West Academy. The event consisted of a carousel of taster sessions in four different inclusive sports - Boccia, Tri-Golf, Goalball & New Age Kurling.

MINI TENNIS - SPRING 1 - 8.1.15

On Thursday 8th January 2015, a team of children represented Stanningley at the Mini-Tennis Event at Leeds West Academy. The children had a great time playing several games against children from a neighbouring school.

Indoor Athletics SSP West Plate Final

The Year 5/6 Indoor Athletics team continued their amazing success at the SSP West Plate Final which was held at Priesthorpe High School. The level of competition was incredibly high and Stanningley placed a fantastic joint second place. However, due to the joint score, Stanningley then received third place due to not scoring first in one event! All the children were happy with their Bronze Medal awards and certificates. Well done!

Y5/6 NETBALL - AUTUMN 2 - 27.11.14

Today the girls played in the Y5/6 Group B Netball tournament at Leeds West Academy. The girls won all three games with a clean sheet. Stanningley will now progress to the next round of the competition which will be held on the 4/3/14.

Y5/6 FOOTBALL - AUTUMN 2 - 20.11.14

On Thursday 20th November a selection of children from Y5/6 represented Stanningley at a small football tournament at Swinnow Primary School. Stanningley made the final match before losing to St. Josephs. The team played 3 consecutive games and showed excellent stamina and team spirit. Well done!

Y5/6 INDOOR ATHLETICS COMPETITION - AUTUMN 2 - 11.11.14

Eighteen children from Y5/6 competed against five other schools at the Leeds West Academy 2014 Indoor Athletics Competition. Stanningley came second place, narrowly missing out on first place by only three points! However, for coming second we have now qualified for the Leeds SSP West Plate Final which will be held on the 2nd December at Priesthorpe High School. Well done team!

TAG RUGBY TOURNAMENT - AUTUMN 1 - 24/10/14

On Friday 24th October a team of 9 children represented Stanningley in the Tag Rugby Tournament at SARLC. Over 20 teams were present at the event. The schools played in groups in order to reach the final stages. Stanningley got off to a flying start playing Valley View and winning 5-2. Although Stanningley did not reach the final stages they played well and achieved great success.

Indoor Athletics - Autumn 1 - 14.10.14

Eighteen children from Years 4-6 attended an indoor athletics event at Leeds West Academy on Tuesday 14th October. The children had an opportunity to learn new skills in preparation for the forthcoming indoor athletics competition. All the children worked hard and the impact this session had on children's progress with the events was fantastic!

Y5/6 FOOTBALL - AUTUMN 1 - 1/10/14

A team of 8 boys (proudly captained by HK) represented Stanningley at the 7 a side football tournament. This was the first of three event nights which will all count towards the football competition. The point system that will be adopted for all 3 nights = (3 win, 2 draw, 1 lose). The boys will meet again on the 16th October and then again on the 26th February. After the 1st event the boys are currently in second place (17 points) behind Whitecote who lead with 18 points.

Brownlee Foundation Triathlon - Autumn 1 - 1st October '14

On Wednesday 1st October 2014 a selection of children represented Stanningley at the triathlon Event at John Charles Stadium for Sport. You will no doubt be aware of the successes of the Brownlee Brothers Triathlon competitors this year and we were delighted to be part of a wonderful opportunity for schools that involved a Triathlon experience day with Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee. The event was the flagship event of the Brownlee Foundation. The foundation had been set up by Alistair and Jonny so they could give something back to the Leeds School community. The brothers are adamant that a lot of their success is down to people they met as youngsters around schools, clubs and events who had a fantastic passion for sport. The event involved a selection of KS2 children having an opportunity to try the disciplines of the triathlon. All the children swam 30m, cycled 1k and ran 400M (all distances are approx.)

CROSS COUNTRY - AUTUMN 1 - 25/09/14

Wow!! A super start to the new term with an excellent performance in the cross country event. All of the children were amazing and showed real determination. We were pleased to announce that KG came third in the Y5 Boys event and was a presented with a medal. MC narrowly missed a medal placing fourth in the Y4 Boys section. We were so proud of all our athletes - you did us proud!!!!

Spirit Alive 2014 - Team Winners

Today, Friday 11th July, the winners of the 2014 Spirit Alive (Sports Day) were announced. The overall team winners with a grand total of 736 points were the YELLOW TEAM = SPAIN ! Thank you to all the adults at home who turned up on the park to show their support for the children. The day was a huge success.

On Wednesday 9th July the sun was shining for the 2014, Stanningley Primary School, Sports Day. The whole school from Nursery to Year 6 took part in the event. The children from Reception Class to Y6 were split into teams and ran for points in this whole school Sainsburys School Games Competition.

On Wednesday 19th March a team of children competed in the Local Schools Basketball Conference League. The competition was held at Priesthorpe School and run by Claude Bandawe. The team from Stanningley won the competition. WELL DONE STANNINGLEY!!
