A team of 6, LKS2 pupils, represented Stanningley in the Y3 and 4 Mixed Dodgeball event at LWA. They played against 5 other teams from our local cluster of schools. We are pleased to announce that Stanningley were announced the event winners. Well done Team SPS.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to the seven Year 5 pupils who represented us so proudly at the Y5.6 Netball Competition. With our Year 6 cohort away on residential, our Year 5 team stepped up to the challenge, competing admirably against the older and often more experienced teams from local schools. The event was highly competitive, with many teams featuring strong representation from boys, adding to the intensity and physicality of each match. Despite the height difference and the tough opposition, our Year 5s showed resilience and skill, drawing in two matches and putting up a spirited fight in the other three. We are incredibly proud of their teamwork and determination. Well done.
A team of Y6 pupils were excited to attend the Year 5 and 6 Mixed Ultimate Frisbee develop event. Ultimate is a non contact, self refereed team sport played with a flying disc frisbee. Two teams of seven players compete on a playing field. At each end of the playing field there is an end zone. Each team defends one end zone. They score a goal if one of their players catches the disc in the opposite end zone. 5 teams were entered for this competition and Stanningley finished in third place. This
Tonight, a team of 7 children represented Stanningley in the Handball event at LWA. The team experienced a fun and fast competition based on attack and defence.
On Friday 27th September, Stanningley Primary attended the Leeds West Cross Country Festival at Stanningley Rugby Club. Stanningley entered 8 teams for the event and were proud to take 43 children. Team scores were given to schools with 4 or more runners finishing in a single race. We were extremely proud of all the runners from Stanningley. YOU WERE ALL AMAZING! We will look forward to receiving/posting the results.
Tonight, a team of 7 boys represented Stanningley in the Handball event at LWA. Handball is the fastest team game with a ball in the world. The team from Stanningley experienced a fun, fast and easy introduction to handball based on attack and defence. The boys played a total of 6 matches against other local primary schools. Well done Team Stanningley.
KS2 FUN RUN (Develop) - AUTUMN 1 - 17/09/2024
The staff at Stanningley Primary School were very proud to take a team of 45 pupils to the KS2 Fun Run at Leeds West Academy. At the event the Y3/4 children ran a distance of 900m. This was followed by the Y5/6 children running 1400m. All of the children completed the course and we were very proud of all of the placings.

Congratulations Team Stanningley, for coming third at the Bramley Olympics today, Tuesday 25th June. We were so proud when you all collected your Bronze medals. The Bramley Olympics is an outdoor track and field compete event and involved our children participating in athletics events against our cluster schools. Congratulations to ValleyView who were the overall winners and to Raynville who came second.
The results of the Sports Day Day Competition 2024 were announced in our Celebration Assembly. At Stanningley Primary School we are proud that our children consistently show highly positive attitudes and they were all proud and respectful when the winning team was announced. In third place with a total of 000 points was XXX Team. In second place with a total of 000 points was XXX Team. And ..... the winners of Sports Day 2024 with a total of 000 points were ...... THE YELLOW TEAM. Congratulations to our Yellow team who were all presented with a gold medal.
On Thursday 20th June Class 2 ALL competed in the Y2 Skipping School Skipping Festival Event at Armley Leisure Centre. The Skipping Festival Event is a competition based celebration of skipping. The range of skipping challenges has been carefully selected to engage children of ALL ability levels ensuring the project is fully inclusive. At the festival the children represented Stanningley Primary School and competed against pupils from four other primaries in the variety of skipping challenges. We had many outstanding performances in both individual and team events. Well done to ALL of our STANNINGLEY SKIPPERS.

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for this years Stanningley Primary School Sports Day and what an amazing day we had. A big well done to the children that took part, and to all the parents who came along to show support. It was fantastic to see the children being cheered along to the finish lines. We saw our school values demonstrated in abundance. At Stanningley Primary School, we are very proud of our annual Sports Day. Children have the chance to compete in this whole school team event and experience competition in a positive way. The event is carefully planned and the children compete in groups of similar abilities. All children have the opportunity to compete in a number of traditional Sports Day races. The staff all worked incredibly hard to ensure that the event went ahead, despite the poor track conditions, in a very water logged park. After an initial panic this morning, the weather was kind. Thank you for your understanding of the small changes that were made. Our Stanningley regulars, will have have noticed differences to the seating and races.
Well done to our team of 6 pupils who represented Stanningley Primary School at the Leeds Well School Partnership SEND Cricket Event at Meanwood Cricket Club. This was an Inspire & Engage event that introduced children to cricket. Teams completed cricket skill based activities and a friendly match supported by staff from YCB and Paul Anderson, Partnership Manager & SGO South Leeds SSP. The children enjoyed the morning and since it was a nice day they also enjoyed the picnic lunch on the outfield.
Today, it was with great pleasure that we attended the Leeds Well School Partnership KS2 Orienteering Event at Nunroyd Park. This was a fun, introductory Orienteering Event for children in KS2. There is an element of competition to these events, but this was low level and the main emphasis of the event was fun and participation. Stanningley Primary entered three teams in the Year 5 and 6 race. Teams consisted of 4 participants. The course used a standard orienteering map and was around an open grassed area with scattered trees and good visibility. Out of the 22 teams competing Stanningley successfully managed to get a team in fourth place. Well done to all of the children who attended the orienteering event.
Today, we were excited to take a team of 6 children to compete in a new sport at Leeds West Academy. Mr Clarke, introduced the rules of Aussie Running. This is a sport where teams compete against each other in a game that combines speed and endurance. Teams had 6 runners. Runners ran clockwise around the outside of the blue markings until they completed a full lap, while the rest of the team waited on the inside of the pitch. At the end of the lap, the runner will hand the baton to the next person in the team. The teams continued to run with the aim of overtaking and tagging a runner from their opposing team to win their match. After 5 minutes, if a match hadn’t been won, it was called a draw.

We are excited to share that today, Friday 24th May, our Y6 pupils participated in the Brownlee Foundation Mini Triathlon Event at the John Charles Stadium for Sport. This free, non competitive event, is designed to be fun and inclusive and introduces children of all abilities to the sport and elements of triathlon. Our Y6 children thoroughly enjoyed the event and all completed the disciplines of the triathlon
Tonight, our team of 7 boys demonstrated all of the six School Games values whilst playing Handball. They showed Passion, Self Belief, Respect, Honesty, Determination and Teamwork. Handball is the fastest team game with a ball in the world. The team from Stanningley experienced a fun, fast and easy introduction to handball based on attack and defence. Handball can be played almost anywhere with simple equipment. The boys played 3 games in which they showed a high level of skill. They won all of their games comfortably and did not concede any goals. Well done Team Stanningley.
Kwik Cricket is a simple game for all boys and girls from 8 years of age upwards. The aim is to give children of all abilities the opportunity to play cricket in a fun, fair and safe environment. Today, we were able to take a team of 8 children to a develop and play session at Leeds West Academy. These sessions have an emphasis on personal development. The aim is for participants to learn and develop new skills. Our team enjoyed this introduction to competition and playing against children from Bramley St. Peters and Raynville.
CONGRATULATIONS TEAM STANNINGLEY PANATHLON RUNNERS UP. A team of 6, Year 2 children, represented Stanningley Primary School at the West Leeds Primary KS1 PANATHLON Event at Pudsey Leisure Centre on Thursday 18th April 2024. The Primary Panathlon is an inclusive sports event and featured a maximum of 8 teams competing across activities such as Boccia Blast, New Age Kurling, Tri Golf, Precision Bean Bag, Ten Pin Topple and Harlem Hoops. All schools take part in a carousel of activities as a group. WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT TEAM STANNINGLEY CAME SECOND AND ARE NOW THE PROUD OWNERS OF SILVER MEDALS. They all received a certificate, silver medal and a team trophy to add to our PANATHLON collection. Well done Year 2.
Well done to our team of 6 pupils who represented Stanningley at the KS2 Sports Hall Athletics. Teams of 6 to 8 pupils spent 7 minutes at each of the 7 events. The events were Seated Ball Throw, Relay Run, Standing Long Jump, Foam Javelin, Vertical Jump, Speed Bounce and Hurdles Relay Run. At each event, the sports leader recorded each teams best three scores. The average of these three scores was used to give the team their overall score for the event. We are proud to announce that our team came second in the event and each received a SILVER place certificate.
We were excited to offer a team of 6 Year 2 pupils a chance to experience a Sports Hall Athletics event at LWA. The pupils spent 7 minutes at each of the 7 activity stations. The events were Seated Ball Throw, Relay Run, Standing Long Jump, Foam Javelin, Vertical Jump, Speed Bounce and Hurdles Relay Run.
A team of 8 children represented Stanningley at the Leeds Well School Partnership Year 5 and 6 Competitive Tag Rugby West Event Qualifier. COMPETE Events are events that have an emphasis on competition. Taking part in these events may see participants progress to higher levels. Stanningley Primary School played 6 other schools in Group A. They won ALL 6 games and showed excellent values throughout the competition. Stanningley were winners of the group and will now be part of the Finals Day that will be held on Monday 1st July 2024 at Headingly Stadium on St Michaels Lane.
Congratulations to our Y6 boys who were selected to attend the West Yorkshire School Games Cross Country Finals. Unfortunately, the weather conditions had prevented the Leeds Finals, last month leaving many of our children disappointed due to the cancellation. However, we were very happy to secure 2x wildcat places for the West Yorkshire Final at Temple Newsam. Today, the two Year 6 Boys ran a distance of 1200m to 1450m in a time chipped event. They represented the district of LEEDS in what was a qualifier for the national finals to be held in Leicestershire in a few weeks time. There were 160 results in the Y6 Boys Event. Running on saturated ground and competing against very strong competitors our boys did Stanningley Primary School proud. The results from the Y6 boys event can be viewed below.

The Primary Panathlon is an inclusive sports event and featured a maximum of 8 teams competing across a range of inclusive activities. All schools took part in a carousel of activities as a group. The boys were very excited when the results were given. WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT TEAM STANNINGLEY CAME FIRST. The boys ALL received a gold medal, a certificate and a team trophy.

Very similar to inclusive event on the 23.1.24, a team of 6 pupils attended the Inclusive Games session at LWA. This event ran as a circuit of 7 different games. The event was non competitive between schools but some of the games included competition within the team. Again, the attending children from Stanningley Primary were excellent role models and demonstrated many values such as respect and teamwork.
What a night. Six, Y6 boys represented Stanningley at the Basketball event at LWA. They showed all the key values of Honesty, Respect, Determination and Teamwork and showed excellent skill on the court. We saw shooting, dribbling, passing and great defense. Stanningley played 5 games against our cluster primaries and remained undefeated throughout the event. Well done team Stanningley. You were amazing.
A team of 6 pupils attended, The Inclusive Games session at LWA. This event ran as a circuit of 7 different games. The event was non competitive between schools but some of the games included competition within the team.rnrnThe games were Mini Tchoukball, Noughts and Crosses, Fun Fair, Blindfold Obstacle Course, Loopy, Kurling Target Practice and Hockey Dribble. The attending children were excellent role models and demonstrated many values such as determination, passion, respect, self-belief, and teamwork.
A team of 7 boys competed in the football competition at Leeds West Academy. The boys played extremely well. They drew 3 games and won 1. Congratulations to ValleyView Team A, who were the competition winners.
Today, a team of 6 boys attended the Leeds Well School Partnership SEND Ten-Pin Event 2023. This was an INSPIRE AND ENGAGE event that had an emphasis on participation. The aim was to inspire participants to continue their physical activity journey. The emphasis of the event is on fun and enjoyment rather than competition. There was space for up to 24 teams at the event and each team was made up of a maximum of 6 participants. Thank you to PANATHLON for providing medals and certificates.
A team of 7 boys competed in the football competition at Leeds West Academy. Due to an injury earlier that day, Stanningley played without having a substitute on the side line. The team showed excellent skill and sportsmanship and walked away joint third. Congratulations to Raynville A who were the competition winners.

Tonight, we attended a Y2 Multi Skills event at Leeds West Academy. The children were very excited to use the facilities at our local secondary school. Eight children from Year 2 were given the opportunity to try different activities by completing a carousel that was supported by young leaders. The children from Stanningley Primary School were amazing and tried out running, aiming, skipping, balancing, dribbling and throwing! Well done Year 2.

It was very busy but Team Stanningley enjoyed their first experience of Ultimate.
Tonight, we enjoyed attending the Year 5 and 6 Mixed Netball competition at Leeds West Academy. Our Team, showed excellent resilience and coped with unexpected changes to the rules and organisation. Congratulations to Team Stanningley who ran out as winners of the competition.

The School Games is a programme which aims to keep competitive sport at the heart of schools and provide young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best. Tonight we took a team of 8 pupils to compete in the TAG RUGBY event. Our team was very excited to be playing on the new 2G Astro at Leeds West Academy. The team not only successfully remained undefeated but also they displayed outstanding sportsmanship. TEAM STANNINGLEY YOU played fair. YOU gave your all. YOU were honest and respectful. Congratulations on YOUR win.
It was with great pleasure that we attended the Leeds Well School Partnership SEND Inspire and Engage Athletics Event at Pudsey Leisure Centre. The INSPIRE and ENGAGE events will have an emphasis on participation. The aim is to inspire participants to continue their physical activity journey. This was a fun and non competitive event aimed at giving our children the opportunity to develop their fundamental skills through athletics. Children were able to carousel as a school group around a range of different activity stations which challenged their movement balance throwing and jumping skills.
KS2 FUN RUN (Develop) - AUTUMN 1 - 03/10/2023
The staff at Stanningley Primary School were very proud to take a team of 34 pupils to the KS2 Fun Run at Leeds West Academy. All of the children completed the course and we were very proud of all of the placings.
A team of 6 boys attended the West Leeds Well School Partnership Y5/6 Dodgeball Competition at Crawshaw Academy. This was a a compete event. These events will have an emphasis on competition. The aim of these events is to provide a competitive opportunity for children that need to develop their skills. The team at Stanningley won their group and progressed to what the competition named the champions league.
This was the first of two Dodgeball competitions that Y5/6 will be attending this week. Both nights are compete events. It was decided that we would take a team of Y5 pupils to the event at LWA and then a Y6 team will compete at the LWSP event at Crawshaw. Our Y5 team, played against 5 other teams from our local cluster of schools and showed excellent sportsmanship. Mr Harington commented about the honesty of the team.

Tonight, we attended our first cluster sports event of the new academic year. A team of 6, Y4 pupils, represented Stanningley in the Y3/4 Mixed Dodgeball event at LWA. They played against 5 other teams from our local cluster of schools. At the end of the event, the children were excited to hear that they had placed second. Congratulations to Raynville who were the competition winners.

The results of the Sports Day Day Competition 2023 were announced in our Celebration Assembly. In third place with a total of 604 points was Green Team. In second place with a total of 653 points was Blue Team. And ..... the winners of Sports Day 2023 with a total of 684 points were ...... THE WHITE TEAM. Congratulations to our White team who were all presented with a gold medal.
At Stanningley Primary School, we are very proud of our annual Sports Day. Children have the chance to compete in this whole school team event and experience competition in a positive way. The event is carefully planned and the children compete in groups of similar abilities. All children have the opportunity to compete in a number of traditional Sports Day races. Our annual Sports Day, that takes place on Stanningley Park, is supported by friends and family. Today, both of our Key Stage events were well attended with many adults joining in a final race. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR SUPPORTING OUR STANNINGLEY SPORTS DAY.

Today, we were very proud to take a team of 8 children to compete in the Leeds Well School Partnership Years 5 and 6 Open Cricket festival at Morley Cricket Club. The event went really well and our players did a great job persevering in the heat.
Congratulations to the Y4 Open Cricket Team who had a great day at Pudsey Congs Cricket Club. They were very proud to return to school wearing Bronze medals.
Today, we were very proud to take a team of 8 children to compete in the Leeds Well School Partnership Years 5.6 Competitive Tag Rugby Final 2023. The competition was high and our Stanningley Primary School team played with skill and determination. The final was hotly contested and after extra time Newlaithes Primary School and Horsforth St. Margarets could not be separated so they were both announced joint winners.
Stanningley Primary enjoyed attending the Girls Yr 5 and 6 Football Event at Leeds West Academy. Congratulations to Raynville on winning this event.
Today, a selection of children from Y6 participated in a Mini Triathlon Event at the John Charles Stadium for Sport. The event involved a selection of KS2 children having an opportunity to try the disciplines of the triathlon. All children swam 50m, cycled 800m and ran 300M. After completing the event the children were all presented with a goody bag and medal. Thank you to The Brownlee Foundation for organising this inspiring event.
On Tuesday 16th May 2023, a team of 7 children represented Stanningley Primary School at the West Leeds Well School Partnership Yr5/6 Netball Development Festival. The event was held at Bramley St Peters Primary School. Although, no official results were given, since this was a develop and play event, our team had a very successful event. Stanningley Primary won 3 out of their 4 games and supported each other well. Well done.
CONGRATULATIONS to our Stanningley Primary School, Y4 Girls Cricket Team, on qualifying for the Leeds Final in June. Today, we were proud to take 8 of our Y4 Girls to the Leeds West Year 3/4 Cricket Competition at Pudsey St Lawrence Cricket Club. The children played competitive matches against Pudsey Southroyd and Pudsey St. Josephs. The children finished in first place and will now progress to the next stage in the competition.
On Tuesday 2nd May, Stanningley Primary School attended a develop and play cricket session at LWA. The children enjoyed completing the skills carousel before playing a game against Summerfield Primary. This was great preparation for the Leeds West Year 3/4 Cricket Competitions. These events include the Year 3/4 Girls Dynamos Cricket on the 4th May and the Year 3/4 Open Dynamos Cricket on the 5th June.

Tonight our Y3/4 Girls Football Team represented Stanningley Primary School in an outdoor football skills event at Leeds West Academy. We enjoyed playing alongside other girls from Raynville Primary School.
CONGRATULATIONS to our Stanningley Primary School Tag Rugby Team on qualifying for the Leeds Well School Partnership Tag Rugby Final. Today, we were proud to take our children to Yarnbury RFC to play in the qualifying stages. The children played in three groups and Stanningley were Group B winners. They will now progress to the Leeds Well School Partnership Competitive Tag Rugby Final. This will be held on Thursday 25th May at John Charles Centre for Sport.
Congratulations to Stanningley Primary School girls football team who won todays indoor skills competition. The girls enjoyed the opportunity to lift the cluster trophy.

Today, a team of 5 boys and 1 girl attended the Y5.6 Handball event at Leeds West Academy. Handball has been described as football with hands, water-polo without the water, and basketball with nets. Some people say that it is the most exciting, high scoring, action packed team sport that can be played anywhere by anyone. Stanningley Primary School finished second place in Group 1. They progressed to Pitch 2 in the final game and came in 4th place overall.
We enjoyed taking a Y4 team to play in the football event at Leeds West Academy. This was an outdoor 6 a side event.
A selection of our KS2 girls, who had previously attended our dance club, were invited to the KS2 dance event at Leeds West Academy. This Inspire and Engage Event included, warm Up Dances led by Miss Neal, Dance taught by Miss Neal, Group work supported by student leaders and then the Group Performances. Well done girls, you were amazing.
Congratulations, to the children who represented Stanningley Primary School at the LEEDS Cross Country Final at Temple Newsam Estate. We were very proud to take 3 teams and and a wildcard runner to compete at this event. Although, none of our runners qualified for the West Yorkshire Final we were extremely proud of their performance. We are already looking forward to next year.
Today, 24th January, 6 children from Class 2 represented Stanningley at a Sports Event at LWA. The KS1 team had fun taking part in all the activities in such a big space.
Well done to our athletes who attended the mini tennis event at Leeds West Academy. Mr Downing sent the following message. Thank you so much for bringing the students down today for the Year 5 and 6 Mini Tennis event. I was really impressed with the students perseverance throughout the event, with what can be a very difficult sport to pick up and most importantly I think they enjoyed it.

The Y4 Mini Tennis Team enjoyed playing matches at the tennis event. It was great to see them grow in confidence.
Welldone SPS for topping the table at the Benchball event. The aim of the game was to work the ball forwards to find your teammate/teammates on the oppositions bench. The team showed great skill finding space and sending and receiving the ball.

Tonight, we attended the Year 5 and 6 compete Girls Netball at LWA. This was a 5-a-side event following the High 5 Netball rules. This was the first time the girls had played in Netball matches and we were very proud of their team performance.

Today, Friday 14th October, a team of KS2 children attended the West Leeds School Games Cross Country at Stanningley ARLFC. Team scores were given to schools who had at least 4 runners finishing in a race. We were very proud of all of our runners. A special mention to AH who came first place in the Y5 Boys Race.
Tuesday 11th October, a group of Year 5 pupils competed in the Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby. Unfortunately, our Year 6 players were on a Y6 residential so we were very proud of some of our players who were giving TAG RUGBY a try for the very first time. This was a mixed boys and girls compete event and the event was organised to tie in with the Rugby League World Cup.

Today, Tuesday 4th October, we were proud to take 33 children to attend a cross country event at Leeds West Academy. The Yr4 children ran approximately 900m and Yrs 5/6 ran approximately 1500m. Despite, the rain the children all did an amazing job and had fun.
Today, we were proud to take a group of 8 children to the Leeds Well School Partnership SEND Develop and Play Athletics Event 2022. This was a fun, non competitive event aimed at giving children the opportunity to develop their fundamental skills through athletics. The children rotated, as a school group, around a range of different activity stations which willrnchallenged the their movement, balance, throwing and jumping skills.
A team of 6 Year 5 pupils represented Stanningley in a Y5.6 Dodge Ball Event. This was an INSPIRE AND ENGAGE EVENT which had emphasis on participation and inspiring participants to continue their physical activity journey. The boys enjoyed the night and were proud to become a well deserved second place.

It was great to be back at LWA for the first sports event of the new academic year. A team of 6 children represented Stanningley in a Y3.4 Dodge Ball Event. This was an INSPIRE AND ENGAGE EVENT which had emphasis on participation and inspiring participants to continue their physical activity journey. The children worked together well and had a great evening. They were well deserving of the highest score. Well done Team Stanningley.
